Trinity and the ideas of christianity

    Luis Medina

The movie The Matrix is connected to many of the ideas of Christianity. The movie The Matrix represents the idea of the holy trinity which is the father, the son and the Holy Spirit. Neo who is one of the main characters had a similar journey to the son of the holy trinity which is Jesus Christ who had to go through a journey in order to save mankind. The Oracle plays the role of the father in the holy trinity which is through the powers of the Holy Spirit he leads the son towards the path he has chosen for him. Trinity which is one of the main characters in the movie The Matrix plays a huge role in the movie just as the Holy Spirit does in Christianity. Christians believe that the role of the Holy Spirit is to guide them, teach them and give them strength. In the movie Neo who plays the role of the messiah was guided, grew stronger and learned through the help of Trinity.

In the Movie The Matrix the Oracle plays the role of the father of the holy trinity. The Oracle seems not to be a prophet or able to tell the future but if not control it. When Neo knocks down the base she tells him “What's really going to bake your noodle later on is, would you still have broken it if I hadn't said anything” (script). Trough Trinity she guides Neo towards the path that she has chosen for Neo which is the path of the chosen one. When Neo dies Trinity starts talking to Neo’s dead body she tells him what the Oracle had told her. “The Oracle told me that I would fall in love, and that man, the man who I loved would be the one… you can't be dead…because I love you” (script). Just as the Oracle had told Trinity everything had gone exactly how the Oracle had said it would.
Neo is a character who has many similarities to Jesus Christ the messiah from the Bible. Even though Jesus was the messiah he was always accompanied by his father and the Holy Spirit, while Neo had Trinity, the Oracle and Morpheus. When Morpheus gets captured by the agents Neo goes out to rescue him. Even though Tank and Trinity tough he was crazy and that it was impossible he still decided and believed that he was able to bring back Morpheus. Even if it would’ve taken a miracle in order to save Morpheus. Tank tells Neo “this is loco… those are agents holding him. Three of them but what you're talking about is suicide” (script). After he saved Morpheus Trinity and Tank began to believe in him. They even realized that he was able to overcome even the most dangerous obstacles that neither of them were able to do.

Just as people didn’t believe Neo was the chosen one People did not believe Jesus Christ was the messiah. At the very begging many did not believe Jesus was the savior till he started to make miracles and show them he was gifted and different than the rest of them. “The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up” (Mat 11:5). As Jesus was able to do things that no other human being had ever done like rise people from the dead and give the blind their eye sight back people began to worship him and believed with all their hearts that he was going to free them from the sins of mankind.
In an article I read called Neo-Christ: Jesus, The Matrix, and Secondary Allegory as a Rhetorical Form, many of the Christian audience who had seen the film felt as if the story of the matrix had a connection to the stories of Jesus from the Bible just as I have shown the connection between the both of them. “Christian audience centered on the films as religious allegory, finding them to be a retelling of the gospel of Jesus Christ” (Milford, Mike). They found that the main characters Neo and the Christian messiah Jesus had gone through a very similar experience. Both of them where sent on a quest to save and free humanity. Many of the movies we see now in days always have a hero but in the matrix “Instead of an action hero, Neo became the image of Jesus” (Milford, Mike).

Throughout the movie the matrix Trinity guides Neo who is trapped in the matrix. He was not able to figure out that he was trapped in a world that was a complete illusion if Trinity did not guide him towards Morpheus. At the very begging of the movie Trinity hacked into Neo’s computer and told him to “Follow the white rabbit” in order to find her. Once he followed the white rabbit and finds Trinity she tells him “I brought you here to warn you” (script) Trinity was sent by Morpheus to look for Neo because Morpheus believed Neo was the chosen one just as the Oracle had told him he would find the chosen one.

As Morpheus was able to reach Neo trough Trinity and allowed him to realize the truth, just as the Holy Spirit is one of the messengers of God to his children. One of the roles the Holy Spirit plays in Christianity is to guide the children of God. The followers of Christianity have believed that the Holy Spirit has always been there to guide them towards the correct path and protect them. Not only have the followers and believers of Christianity have been guided by the Holy Spirit but it is said that Jesus himself was guided on his mission by the Holy Spirit. “And Jesus…was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing” (Luk 4:1 and Luk 4:2). Even after 40 days without any food and being tempted by the devil Jesus was able to overcome his hunger and the devils temptations. He was guided and led towards his mission by the Holy Spirit. In the movie Neo had been guided the whole time by Trinity throughout his mission in order to allow him to gain confidence and become stronger just as the Holy Spirit also guided Jesus towards his mission.
Morpheus is the one who gives Neo the red pill in order for him to be reborn and see what the real world really looks like.  Even though he is the one who shows Neo the truth and tells him that he is the chosen one it was trough Trinity that Neo learns and develops the confidence that he is the one destined to save mankind from the machines. In the movie Neo was born again after he had taken the red pill just as it is said in Christianity that Christians are born again as a new being after baptism. “You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.... Remember, all I'm offering is the truth, nothing more” (script). Once Neo took the choice to take the red pill that was given to him by Morpheus it was as if he was being baptized and willing to accept and see the truth. He was becoming a believer.  Even after he had already accepted to see the truth he was still lacking the fact that he did not fully believed in himself yet, Which he learned how to trough the help of Trinity. When he goes visit the Oracle she tells Neo “know thyself… Being the one is just like being in love. No one can tell you your in love, you just know it…You got the gift, but it looks like you're waiting for something” (script). When Neo goes with Trinity to rescue Morpheus from the agents after they got Morpheus back the helicopter that Trinity was in was going to crash along with Trinity in it. Neo makes his best effort to do the impossible and save Trinity right before the helicopter crashes, something he would not have the courage to do back then. He did not only save Morpheus from three agents but he was also able to save Trinity as well. Thanks to Trinity being with him he was able to help Morpheus which he would’ve not been able to do on his own or would’ve not had fully believed in himself if he didn’t have at least the help of Trinity. This allowed him to learn that he was able to do things that he would’ve never expected because he believed in himself just as his allies believed in him when he try to save them.
After Neo and Trinity had rescued Morpheus he was separated from Trinity as they were about to head back to the ship As he was fighting agent Smith, the agent keeps making fun of him and calling him “Mr. Anderson”(script). while Jesus was being crucified many of the soldiers and Jews would also make fun of him and tell him if you are the so called son of God why you don’t save yourself.  When Neo was about to face agent smith on his own  Trinity seemed very worried about him and Morpheus tells her “He's beginning to believe” (script). Agent Smith ends up killing Neo in battle and even as he died Trinity still believed that he was the one who was going to lead them into salvation and free them from the matrix. “You can't be dead. You can't be, because I love you. You hear me...Now get up”(script). Trinity commanded Neo to get up from the dead as if his life was in her hands as if she had full control over him. Once Neo was resurrected by Trinity’s kiss he came back with much more strength then he ever had and he was able to defeat the agents with no problem.
When Jesus was sent to be crucified on the cross he was separated from the Holy Spirit and from his father.  “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Mat 27:46). As Jesus was about to accomplish his mission he felt as if he was abandoned by his father who had always been there with him. He had to die in order to free mankind from their sins and in order to do that he had to do his mission on his own without the help of his father and the help of the Holy Spirit. It was the one and only time that Jesus was separated from his father and the Holy Spirit who had always been with him since the beginning of creation. Neo who was also walking in the same footsteps as Jesus was left to fight the agents and defeat them on his own because he was the chosen one and that was his mission and no one else’s.
The film The Matrix expressed many ideas and symbols of Christianity. Like the fact that Jesus and Neo lived kind of the same journey. The Oracle playing the role of the father of the holy trinity who is the creator.  Also Trinity who played a very huge role as the “real hero” of the story and she was the person who guided Neo just as the Holy Spirit guided Jesus throughout his journey. If i told Him

In class we read the poem If I Told Him A Complete Portrait of Picasso. When we read the poem in class it did not sound much like a poem because the way we all read it. Since each of us had to read a couple of lines we all read it at a different speed. It was a very unique and different type of poem then the once I have read in the past. This poem did not rime but it was very repetitive.  When we heard the actual person who wrote poem read it the poem sounded like it had rhythm. I could not clearly understand the meaning of the poem but maybe what the poem was about was how Picasso really was and what she tough of him as a person. It seems she wanted to let him know but she didn’t know how too.

summary of chapter two

In chapter two of The Island of Dr.Moreau by H.G Wells Edward Prendick wakes up in a cabin and he seems confused about what was going on and how he ended up there. When he wakes up he notices there’s a young man with a mustache sitting next to him holding his wrist.  Right after he hears some strange noise and it sounded like an animal to him. The man then explains to Edward Prendick that he was founded in a boat starving and that he was lucky that he was found before he died. The man told him he was lucky” to get picked up by a boat with a medical man aboard” (4).Thanks to that man he was still alive. The man got Edward Prendick food and even some clothes to wear. The man asked Prendick how he ended up on the boat he told him he was a scientist and the other man told him how he had studied biology as well at a University College.  Prendick then asked were the boat was heading and the man told him that it was going to Hawaii but that before that it was going to drop him of in his island where he lives that had no name.

descripion

The painting I choose was the Man with Yellow Pants by Michelangelo Pistoletto who was born in Italian 1933. The painting was done in 1964. The painting measures 200.3x100cm. In this painting there’s a man just as in the title he is wearing yellow pants. He has a dark blue suit and he seems to be leaning on something could be a wall, pole, house, building, etc. In this painting the artist made it seem as if the man with the yellow pants had his back towards us. He is wearing shoes I can’t tell if they are dark blue or black. You can see that the heel of his right foot. His right foot is lifted a bit of the ground while the other one is flat on the ground. He has his right leg crossed over his left leg. You are able to see half of his face and you can’t really see his neck because it is covered by the back of his suit. His right hand is on the side of his head and it looks as if his elbow was leaning against a wall. You can’t see his full left arm but it seems to me that his left arm is placed on his stomach or chest. You can see the small details in his pants like lines and even some shading. He looks as if he was staring at something from a very far distance and it seems that he is really focused on what he had his eye on. He could be looking at another person or maybe something that caught his attention. The painting was done on polished stainless steel which shows a reflection of anything that’s in the background which makes the man with the yellow pants seem as if he was standing on a wooden light brown floor. The painting was painted with pencils and oil paints. The rest of the background of the painting looks completely clear unless someone was standing there you could see their reflection in the painting.  The colors used for this painting were very dark colors.

a streetcar name desire outline

Thesis
In the play a Streetcar Named Desire, Tennesse Williams demonstrates through dialogue and stage directions the similarities and differences between both characters Stanly and Blanche.

Similarities

·         Both Stanly and Blanche seem to have an alcohol problem.
·         They both have a sexual desire.
·         They both drink uncontrollably throughout most of the play
·         Both Stanly and Blanche seem to be very judgmental people for example when Blanche said “Why, that you had to live in these conditions” (11). What this quote proves is how at the very begging of the play right after she had arrived at her sister’s house she was already judging and criticizing the conditions her sister was living in.
·         Stanly said “it looks to me like you’ve been swindled, baby, and when you get swindled under the Napoleonic, code I get swindled too. And I don’t like to be swindled” (22). What this quote proves how Stanly without getting to know Stella’s sister Blanche very well  he was already judging her

Differences

·         When Stanly gets drunk he seems to have a very violent temper for example when Stanly got drunk during the poker game and ended up beating up Stella. Stanly takes after Stella, who retreats behind the door, men quickly, follow to pull him off” (40). This quote proves how poorly Stanly can handle alcohol and how aggressive he becomes when he’s drunk that he was even able to beat up his own wife even though she was expecting a child.
·         Blanche cannot control how much liquor she takes. for example when Mitch went to visit her Blanche  right away the first thing she had grabbed was a bottle of liquor. Mitch then tells her “you ought to lay of his liquor. He says you been lapping it up all summer like a wild cat.” (83) what this proves is how bad of a problem Blanche seems to have with alcohol that every time something comes up or she’s stressed out about something first thing she would grab is alcohol.
