The painting I choose was the Man with Yellow
Pants by Michelangelo Pistoletto who was born in Italian 1933. The painting was
done in 1964. The painting measures 200.3x100cm. In this painting there’s a man
just as in the title he is wearing yellow pants. He has a dark blue suit and he
seems to be leaning on something could be a wall, pole, house, building, etc. In
this painting the artist made it seem as if the man with the yellow pants had
his back towards us. He is wearing shoes I can’t tell if they are dark blue or black.
You can see that the heel of his right foot. His right foot is lifted a bit of
the ground while the other one is flat on the ground. He has his right leg crossed
over his left leg. You are able to see half of his face and you can’t really
see his neck because it is covered by the back of his suit. His right hand is
on the side of his head and it looks as if his elbow was leaning against a
wall. You can’t see his full left arm but it seems to me that his left arm is
placed on his stomach or chest. You can see the small details in his pants like
lines and even some shading. He looks as if he was staring at something from a
very far distance and it seems that he is really focused on what he had his eye
on. He could be looking at another person or maybe something that caught his
attention. The painting was done on polished stainless steel which shows a
reflection of anything that’s in the background which makes the man with the
yellow pants seem as if he was standing on a wooden light brown floor. The painting
was painted with pencils and oil paints. The rest of the background of the
painting looks completely clear unless someone was standing there you could see
their reflection in the painting. The colors
used for this painting were very dark colors.
